Want it Badly!

Darkness Eternal by Gena Showalter
It includes Red Handed

She's been chosen to fight the elusive enemy among us....

Phoenix Germaine has been trying to earn back her mother's trust after going into rehab and kicking Onadyn -- the drug of choice for New Chicago teens. But when a party in the woods turns into an all-out battle with the most ferocious aliens Phoenix has never seen, she's brought home in what appears to be an Onadyn-induced state. Hello, reform school.

Except, what her mother doesn't know is that Phoenix has just been recruited to join the elite Alien Investigation and Removal agency, where she'll learn to fight dirty, track hard, and destroy the enemy. Her professional training will be rigorous and dangerous, and the fact that one of her instructors is Ryan Stone -- the drop-dead gorgeous, nineteen-year-old agent she met in the woods that night -- doesn't make things any easier. Especially when dating him is totally against the rules....
And Blacklisted

Alien hunting can get a girl killed. It can also get her a date.

High school senior Camille Robins and her best friend are determined to snag the attention of their crushes before graduation next month. Armed with red-hot outfits and killer hair, they sneak into the hottest nightclub in town -- which caters to the rich and famous, both human and alien. They end up following Erik (who is human) and Silver (who isn't) through a guarded door and are soon separated and under attack...and not the good kind.

Bad boy Erik spares Camille's life, but the two are soon being chased by gun-toting Alien Investigation and Removal agents. Camille's more confused than ever because Erik's finally showing real interest in her, but the agents are accusing him of dealing Onadyn -- a drug that ruins human lives. Suddenly, with the heat of his kiss lingering on her lips, Camille has to decide whose side she's on...and whether she's willing to put her life on the line to save Erik's.
I've already read them both, but having them in this awesome looking book will be sweet!

Red Moon Rising Review

Red Moon Rising by Peter Moore

Teen Wolf meets True Blood in this fun, boy-friendly story.

Being only half-vamp in a high school like Carpathia Night makes you a whole loser. But Danny Gray manages to escape the worst of the specists at his school. Thanks to the genetic treatments he had as an infant, most people assume Danny's other half is human. Which is a good thing.

Ever since the development of synthetic blood - SynHeme - vamps have become society’s elite, while wulves like his father work menial jobs and live in bad neighborhoods. Wulves are less than second class citizens; once a month they become inmates, forced to undergo their Change in dangerous government compounds.

For Danny, living with his vamp mother and going to a school with a nearly all-vamp student body, it’s best to pretend his wulf half doesn’t even exist. But lately Danny's been having some weird symptoms — fantastic night vision; a keener-than-usual sense of smell; and headaches, right around the full moon.

Even though it's tempting to live in denial, it's hard to ignore evidence. There's only a month until the next full moon, and Danny's time is running out.

Peter Moore speaks to adolescents in a voice that will have them laughing, set in a world that will get them thinking.
(may contain spoilers)
Okay, so I have to admit that I've never seen Teen Wolf or True Blood so them meeting has no significant impact on my review. I do think however, that this book is very boy-friendly. So ladies if you are trying to get your boyfriend to like a good dose of blood-sucking vampires and hairy werewolves in their literature, then I recommend Red Moon Rising.
Danny is hilarious in his alternate vampire/human/werewulf universe! He can crack a joke faster than I can read it! But his dilemma just didn't stick with me. I couldn't sympathize with him. Why? You ask. Well, it's because in the beginning of the book he himself is a specists and I felt that he deserved what he turned into because of his unwillingness to accept that his father was a wulf.
And that brings me to his family. They were awful!!! They made me want to strangle each and every one of them! Their own father/husband was a wulf yet they hated the species just because of their genes. I don't understand how people can be so evil to other people.
The main force driving this novel however is the plot. It's slow at times and extremely fast at others. I liked it. The beginning wasn't a bunch of rubble that I had to make myself get through just so that I could figure out the ending.
If there isn't another book after Red Moon Rising I will be severly ticked because the wulves and their Civil Rights movement deserve a happy ending.
*I received this book for review from the book tour Different Area Codes Book Tour this in no way affected my opinion.

Blood of a Werewolf Review on Sara's Blog

Check out my friend Sara's review of Blood of a Werewolf. Here's some info in case you are unsure about checking it out...

Blood of a Werewolf by T. Lynne Tolles

Darby O'Rielly is not your typical girl next door. She and her sister are ancestral witches, but have never been taught the art of their craft in an attempt to have the girls 'fit in' to their tiny community. When a dark stranger and his brother enter her life, love blooms and havoc ensues. For these two handsome brothers aren't just good looking, they are 'born vampires' of royal blood and they have hunters hot on their trail. When a Van Helsing wanna-be arrives and threatens Devon and Blake's immortal lives, Darby unleashes a deadly magic in order to save them. As vengeance for killing his hunter, our villain kidnaps, Rowan, Darby's sister and injects her with werewolf blood. Darby, Devon and Blake take a redeye to Maine to try and save her. A search then ensues to find a werewolf named Dean who isn't exceptionally friendly or eager to help friends of vampires. Will Rowan survive her transformation or will the werewolf blood wreak havoc on her body and kill her. You'll find out when you read this action packed urban fantasy romance novel yourself.

P.S. This will be one of the books that I'll be giving away during the New Year's Reading Resolution!

Vampire Crush Review

Vampire Crush by A.M. Robinson

First, six mysteriously pale new students show up at Sophie McGee’s high school. Then, Sophie’s childhood nemesis James reappears, still displaying a knack for making Sophie’s blood boil. When Sophie finds out that James has a connection to the new students, she decides to investigate...never expecting her life will quickly begin to resemble a campy horror movie, complete with budding crushes and bloodthirsty villains. (info. taken from Goodreads)

My Review:

Spoilers May Lie Here

I'll start out with the main point, this book has humor! It's filled with sarcastic comments that will have you snorting for hours! Sophie is a refreshing main character in the world of Paranormal YA. (She reminds me a lot of Evie from Paranormalcy by Kiersten White.) She doesn't take any crap from anybody!

James's character, while a little predictable, is still full of fun. Imagine if the boy next door in your neighborhood was a vampire? How fun would that be!?! James is somewhat elusive and protective. His character quickly rose to a very high YUMMY on my scale of male characters.

The ending to this book is also crazy! A good crazy. At first the plot seemed like it was following the same routine other books take, but the last few pages of the book definitely surprised me!

Some things I didn't like were the side characters, they just didn't have enough depth to make them realistic. Also, the same humor that made me like Sophie, also got a little annoying in a few sections of the book.

I'm not sure if there is going to be a sequel to this book, but if there is I will more than likely be buying it.

*I received an ARC from A.M. Robinson, this did not alter my opinion of this book in any way.

I'm Waiting For YOU

Starcrossed by Josephine Angelini
Released Date: May 31, 2011

Set on the island of Nantucket, STARCROSSED tells the tale of Helen Hamilton, a young woman whose destiny is forever altered when she meets Lucas Delos and tries to kill him in front of her entire high school. Which is terribly inconvenient, not only because Lucas is the most beautiful boy on the island, but also because Helen is so achingly shy she suffers physical pain whenever she is given too much attention.

Making matters worse, Helen is beginning to suspect she’s going crazy. Whenever she’s near Lucas or any member of his family she sees the ghostly apparitions of three women weeping bloody tears, and suffers the burden of an intense and irrational hate. She soon learns that she and Lucas are destined to play the leading roles in a Greek tragedy that the Three Fates insist on repeating over and over again throughout history. Like her namesake, Helen of Troy, she’s destined to start a war by falling in love. But even though Lucas and Helen can see their own star-crossed destiny, they’re still powerfully attracted to each other. Will they give up their personal happiness for the greater good, or risk it all to be together?

Reaper Review

Reaper by Rachel Vincent
Tod Hudson was a typical teenager. He liked girls, sports, food and tolerated his younger brother, Nash. In fact, he had his whole life in front of him--and due to his bean sidhe heritage, it was going to be a very long life indeed. And then the car accident occurred.
Suddenly Tod's future wasn't so sure, and he had to make a choice. Life... Death... or something Between....
An ebook exclusive Soul Screamers series novella.
My Review
(Spoilers May Lie Here):
I'll start with repeating the line above, this is an ebook only novella (aka it's not a full length book).
Tod is an extremely elusive character in the original Soul Screamers books, you never know what he's doing, why he's doing it, or how he got there. This novella answers SOME of those questions.
It portrayed Tod's sarcastic humor in a way that helped me not ball my eyeballs out when Tod dies. Instead of balling my eyeballs out I got a fresh dose of funny after every eye watering. And believe me your eyes WILL water when reading this book.
Tod acts as if he's not a good guy because of what he did, but I am 100% positive that he is and this just makes me want him and Kaylee (the main character in the Soul Screamers series) together even more!!!
I have to give this short story a 5/5 because of it's complete brilliance!

*All reviews are my opinion.
